Imperial Hotel and Casino in Rajin, DPRK. Part of the Rajin-Sonbong (also known as Rason following a 2004 administrative reorganization by central authorities) Special Economic Zone and was envisioned to be a $180 million dollar seaside resort. Built under questionable dealings with a southern Chinese business, the Casino Hotel saw brisk use until 2004, as a Chinese casino tourist destination until a Chinese government crackdown on visitors sharply reduced business. The Hotel is open and fully staffed. Amenities include British Telephone in the Grand Lobby, a daily buffet with view of the sea and port in Rajin.
