"hô" is a word from Mandarin, corresponding to the word "river" in Englsih. Most if not all of the rivers in the world are named with the word "river" in English. Simarlarly, most if not all of the rivers of in the world are named with the word "hô" in Mandarin.

By contrast, few indigenous rivers in the homelands of Minnan and Taiwan are named with the word "hô", Instead, they are named and called [khue1/khe1] in Minnan language, for example, [lô-tsuí-khue/khe]. As such, [khue/khe] is the norm and standard equivalent of the word "river" in Englsih, "hô" should only be used to call some rivers in non-Minnan China.

Therefore, it is in the best interest of the this language to have the title and content of this article changed to [khoe/khe].

  • I post this comment for the purpose of safeguarding Min-nan from the slippery road toward being Mandarinized.
