Tiū-á sī chi̍t-nî-seⁿ (annual) ê si̍t-bu̍t, koân 1–1.8 m, hio̍h-á tn̂g-tn̂g (50–100 cm) bô khoah (2–2.5 cm), hoe sè-sè-lúi, hoe-sū (inflorescence) 30–50 cm tn̂g, khò hong siū-hún (pollinate). I ê koé-chí hō-chò tiū-chhek ia̍h chhek-á sī 1 khoán éng-kó (caryopsis), 5–12 mm tn̂g, 2–3 mm kāu. Tiū-chhek khì-tiāu chhek-khak ia̍h tiū-khak ("chho͘-khng") liáu-aū hō-chò tiū-bí.
